HIIIIIIYAH! I have my business license, registration, and name certificate all in hand! HerrSuite is an LLC, and I even have my first official customer all lined up!
Of course, I have had a lot of customers before this - friends, family, and even a few strangers - who have put their trust in a young artist, and I can't thank you enough.
Upon graduation, I didn't send out resumés or set up interviews, and my answer to the 'So do you have a job?' question was a little vague. Instead, I was brimming with happy self-employment clichés: working for myself, setting my own hours, loving what I do, blurring the line between life and work....
Starting HerrSuite is my way of wrapping all of those clichés up and finding the reality in them. I've learned a lot since painting my first mural in my bedroom in 2007, and it feels like I've been several different people in the meantime. I know I have a lot of work to do to punch through the next two years (the most deadly time for any young business) - but I've reached a real mile-marker, and I'm more excited than ever to paint and plan and draw and climb up and down all the walls I can. I'm still up to elbows in plans and ideas, and I hope to be for a long, long time.
